Good news, everybody!
We have been accepted in to the HeroEngine VIP program! This is, as far as I can tell, simply an early-access program, but it's still bitchin'. The product manager for IF Studios (who make the Hero Engine) emailed me and gave me a point of contact, but we haven't received the keys to the engine yet.

I managed to make it to the last day of the Game Developer's Conference last week. Pretty cool just to see all the new stuff on display, but there wasn't a whole bunch I could do there. I got in with a student pass, and the only talks I could get in to were the student-specific ones. I know all that stuff already! Since all the money I have is already wrapped up in the company, I wasn't really in a position to do much wheeling and dealing, so talking to most of the companies on the floor was pretty pointless- I'm just not buying anything at the moment.

Well, it only took the better part of a week, but the backup process is complete. We've gone from having data on 1 out of 3 drive to having it on all 3. The RAID is restored, we swapped out the funky RAID card for a much improved one, and we got it booting off the RAID again.

I just moved the server to it's new home, up on a shelf in my garage. I ran a dedicated circuit to the shelf to make sure that even if the rest of my house goes down (it's all on one circuit, basically), the server will stay up and running. Went remarkably easy, too.
I'm going to get the UPS system working next.

All the local CWS Software coders, contact me if you need a job. I have some hookups available. You will be developing test cases for automated regression testing of the MINDBODY software. It's an internship-level position, but it's a great growing company and can pay some bills, and especially good since they will work around your schedule. Basically, they are looking for $9/hour Cal Poly codeslaves, but it's a good foot in the door and I can get you the positions.

I spent some time organizing the Employees pages, adding extra integration with the LDAP server, and creating a public employees page. Everybody should update their profile here on the CWS Software site with as much contact info as you can muster, so that we can keep in contact with everybody.

Internet is up and running at the new house, along with power. Server is up and running in the corner until I get it to it's permanent home. All is well, continue your coding, writing, and arting!

CWS Software and all the forums and wikis will experience an outage on September 25, while I move the server and my cable modem to the new house. Hopefully it will only be for 1 day; however, the cable company may screw things up and extend the outage. If the outage looks to be severe, I will instead setup the server temporarily at the office. Service will be slow during this time but we should be able to access all the tools. Hopefully everything moves OK and the outage will not be longer than a day.

Mine and I managed to close escrow on a house in Atascadero on Friday and spent our first day working on it yesterday. We had the power disconnected on Friday so we could replace the electrical panel on Saturday with Mac's help- that plan got blown up when Mac's uncle died. D'oh. So we instead worked on dismantling the fence between the house and the rest of the lot; what an immediate difference, really opens everything up. Still coming to terms with the idea of actually owning a house, though- doesn't feel like mine yet, but I guess we haven't lived there yet.
